SUSTAINABILITY
As a business we have a commitment to sustainability by reducing waste and supporting local communities.
Adelia is conscious about its environmental practices used within the business, for example:
• turn off computers and lights when not in use
• use of cloud based systems and electronic documents rather than paper where possible
• reuse cartons from suppliers for local deliveries
• offer customers re-usable bags at markets and events
• design and purchase market and stockist display boxes using recycled timbers
• disposal of items such as blister packs, used pens, bottle caps and batteries through alternate disposal systems.
Our team is currently undergoing a certificate in process manufacturing (LEAN). Each week we dedicate time to process improvement initiatives that support sustainability through the reduction of waste. We already have a pretty lean operation thanks to the dedication of our team and suppliers, and appreciate there is always room for additional small changes that can have an impact.
We have recently invested in the installation of solar panels on our facility roof. Solar energy technologies can have a positive, indirect effect on the environment when solar energy replaces or reduces the use of other energy sources that have larger effects on the environment.
Donating any appropriate waste from our own production (e.g. offcuts and excess product) to local Food rescue organisation, Feed Me Bellarine.
The Australian Packaging Covenant (APCO)
As proud Brand Owner Signatories with the Australian Packaging Covenant (APCO), we're fully committed to sustainable packaging. This means we're developing a solid strategy with clear objectives and targets that align with the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines (SPGs). We're also exploring ways to use recycled and reusable materials in our packaging, prioritising recyclability, and labelling our products with clear disposal instructions. Join us in our efforts to achieve the 2025 National Packaging Targets and make a difference for our planet.
